Definitions | Assignment: is a potent tool to send out tasks to candidates, group of canidates. It can be used for PBL meetings, group evaluations and many more functions. It can be used for the entire course or just a selected group of candidates. Evaluator: A teacher who will evaluate and mark the assignment. |

Create an Assignment
Assignments can be used for a broad range of scenarios ranging from a simple submission with feedback to more complex rubric based assessments of multiple criterias. Feedback can be given in different ways.
Select the course in which to create the Assignment
- Select Course
- Select Course instance
Create an Assignment
Assignments are found under the Assignment tab
- Select Assignment tab
- Click on Create new assignment
Configure the Assignment
- Enter a name
- Enter a due date (Optional)
- Build the submission form (The form that the student will use to submit the assignment) by clicking Add Fields (The form can consist of many fields and documents). In this example there are two fields:
- A rich text field with instructions to student
- A file upload (where students can submit a Word document, or any other file)
- Write instructions for the Evaluator
- Build the evaluation form (The form that the teacher will use to submit feedback to the student) by clicking Add Fields (The form can consist of many fields and documents). In this example there are two fields:
- A text field with feedback to student
- A file upload (where teacher can submit a Word document, or any other file, for an example the a Word doc with comments/annotations)
- Set the Grading Scale
- Set Grading privacy (Note: "Public" will list the student names for the Evaluators)
- Tag the Assignment. For details on tags and question banking, consult the manual
- Save the Assignment (Use Publish only when it’s complete)
Assign evaluators
If you want to add more Evaluators click on Add Assignment Evaluators and select teachers from the list.
If a teacher is missing from the list, please contact an administrator
Assignees
Default is, all students will receive the assignment. If you don’t want to assign it to everyone, click on Switch to individual assignments then select the students that should do the assignment.
Once you switch to individual assignments, you can’t switch back
Evaluate/Give feedback on submissions
Select the assignment you want to work with
- Click on the assignment you want to work with
Select the student you want to evaluate
In courses with many students, filters can be used to find Assignments with a certain status ( Pending Review or Not Submitted). Regroup the list by clicking on the column header at the top of the list of students. You can also filter the list using the Group search on the right hand side of the list.
- Click on the candidate you want to evaluate
- Fill in your feedback (and upload files if needed)
- Set Review Action
- Final Evaluation: This closes the Assignment process for this student
- Return to student for revisions: This send the assignment back to the student so he can create a revised submission.
- Click on Save
